Moving is not only stressful, it’s expensive! Unfortunately, unless you’re under 25, you probably can’t bribe your friends with beer and pizza anymore.

However, there are steps you can take that will help you save money on your move.

1. Plan ahead. Get estimates from several movers and research your options.

2. Move during the week in the middle of the month, if you can. Moving companies often have higher rates for peak times.

4. Search craigslist, freecycle or check out your local liquor store for free packing supplies

5. Color-code. Use bright labels, once color for each room of your house. Label both the boxes and the rooms, to make it quick and easy for the movers to unload. Remember, they are charging you by the hour.
